As many of you know we started a small bathroom project Labor day weekend (yes back in September!) well we finished it just days before the new year. Yikes!
It started out that we were just going to put in the new sink and the new floor, to make it look nicer, and then later finish everything else. Well when we took out the sink we found all sorts of water damage and some mold so the small project became a whole bathroom redo!
I was 8 months pregnant when we started and for that whole month of September we didnt have a bathroom in our home. Thats insane when the crazy pregnant lady has to pee every 5 minutes. Luckily we still had the camper trailer in the back driveway and I was able to use the bathroom in it. It was a really tight fit though! So multiple times a night I would put on my barely fitting bathrobe and shoes and treck across the backyard to the camper. Same deal for showers. we showered out there too.
We did get the toilet back in the bathroom after a few weeks and that was a huge relief (pun intended)Unfortunalty we had all sorts of trouble getting the new plumping to match up withthe original 1950's plumping in the house and it took much longer to get a working bathtub and shower.
Our home is built on a concrete slab so we have no crawl space under our home so just simply moving plumbing around didnt work so Brian had to do a lot of trial and error plumbing to get things to line up and work. Lucky for us Brian is as smart as he is and he got it all figured out and running.
I am so in love with my new bathroom and cant believe we did all this ourselves and for less than $3000!
I do recommend never starting home improvemnet prjects however when you are about to burst when having a baby!
