A table for four

Its taken me a while to post this but only because I had some work to do first. Our little humble home does not have a dinning room and a very small eat in kitchen. I have been looking high and low for a table to fit in a very small place and I have found it. So now we sit at the table to eat dinner (instead of in front of the TV) just like a real family.

SO in honor of our new table I introduce you to my new cooking blog!

Earth Day

on Earth day we worked on putting together our new vegetable garden. we built the raised box and on Saturday we went and got our first yard of dirt, we need 4! I hope to finish that tomorrow and be planting some oodies by Tuesday and Wednesday. I have wanted to have my own garden since we moved her 4 years ago. We always seemed to get to busy to work on it. One year I was planning a wedding and then the next thing you know we have 2 little boys and the garden is still waiting to go in. This year though it will happen.

I also have plans to do a bit of work in the front yard too, Cant wait to get all these projects done and start enjoying my gardens!

Walk for Babies

Just got home from the 5K walk for babies in Everett. Only Eli and I went since it was cold and drizzly (so typical Seattle)but it did stop raining just before the actual walk kick of so we didnt get wet! We had a great time and cant wait to do even better next year. Thank you to all who helped by donating money to a cause that means so much to me and to so many families with little babies born to soon.

I will post pictures as soon as I get some copies from Melissa. I didnt bring my camera :(

Kai vs. Squash

We started Kai on baby food Easter Sunday. I lovingly made all his food from scratch (as I did with Eli) and what thanks do I get?

Little Stinker!

Sunny days

Monday was a scorcher here in Washington (it was 70!)in the middle of April. So I set up Eli's pool and filled it with pans full of hot water, and waited for Eli to wake up from nap. When your two (or 33) that first warm day of the year is fantastic!

6 months

Kai turned 6 months old last Friday. He is a wonderful, healthy little pile of pudge. He weighs just shy of 18 pounds and is getting bigger and stronger everyday. We are still waiting for him to roll over (so close) and he can almost sit unassisted. Soon, very soon.

He did get his first tooth last week. I will try to get a picture but its so tiny its even hard for me to see it, but trust me that little razor is in there!

I cant believe that he is already half way to one. Where is the time going and how can I slow it down?

Mower

Grandma Betty came over to have dinner with us on Sunday and she came bearing gifts. Eli received a new lawn mower that blows bubbles as you "mow" the grass. He is in LOVE! It only took a day and we are already having to get new bubbles as he has pushed it around so much that he used up all the ones it came with. Now if only we will be able to get him to mow the grass for real when he is older?

Easter

Okay so its almost a week later but we have had a busy few days. Saturday we went to Snohomish for a egg hunt and the Easter parade. The egg hunt was a crazy mad house of kids! I didn't realize how big of a event it was but there were a couple thousand people there. They had big areas set up for the different age groups (which was nice) and all the kids lined up around the ropes, and the hunt was on!

After the egg hunt we went to our friend Kyle and Heather's House. They have a son who is a few days older than Eli and a newborn. Their home is right on the parade route so we all met there and watched the parade in comfort (and with a mimosa!)

Melissa (Vinny's mom) was dressed up as the Easter bunny and was part of the parade. It was fun to see her all dressed up and loving her new role. She was also posing for pictures with the kids after the parade to raise money for some local charities. She is such a great lady! Eli loved the Easter "nunny" and kept going up to sit in her lap and give her Easter eggs. It was really cute! Vinny wasn't so sure about the whole deal and was actually a little freaked out that the Easter bunny sounded like mom.

Sunday we kept it simple and had a egg hunt in our backyard and I made a Easter dinner for all of us. Jim (Grandpa Dunn) came over to have dinner with us to visit with the boys. All in all it was a really great day and all the left over ham has been treating us well :)

Eli watching the action from dad's shoulders

Some random girl, what a creative Easter bonnet! I guess they had a contest for most creative Easter bonnets. Next year I will have to participate!

Easter eggs

Tonight I went to my moms and her, Jayda and I all dyed Easter eggs. While watching Martha Stewart the other day they showed a way to dye eggs using silk neck ties. the eggs were stunning so I thought we could give it a try. Eli is so not into doing anything crafty right now so he played with Grandpa while us ladies went to work.

You can see how to intructions at Marthastewart.com

Jayda's Birthday

Little miss Jayda turned 7 last Thursday. I cant believe how quick she is growing up. On her actual birthday our family, Moby and Jan, and Darrin's mom all met at the Japanese Steakhouse for dinner and a small celebration.
What dinner looks like from Eli's level

Jayda trying to catch shirmp in her mouth, I think the cook just had bad aim! How can you miss it when she has no front teeth to block?

Moby teaching Eli how to eat with chopsticks. He actually got pretty good with them!

Darrin a little to excited about the purple airplane!

Jayda's new tutu from Brian and I
For her party with friends she had a skating party. Wowo does that bring back memories of my own childhood spent at the skating rink in Minnesota. Wierd to think that life is starting to come a full circle and things I did as a child soon my children will be doing too! Here party hada Monarch Butterfly theme and I made all the goodies for the party. Eli would not skate at all, wouldnt even let me put skates on him but he had fun in the bouncy stuff they had set up at the end of the rink.

And just for fun since boys will be boys, a video of Darrin racing his friend in speed skating race. And of course Jada being sung Happy Birthday! I love you JuneBug!
