It looks like a beachy kind of day.

In Everett there is this wonderful beach that you can go to where the sound water is warm (yes puget sound water is warm) and play in the surf and sand all day. Jetty Island is this gem and its just a quick hope in the dingy , or the little ferry, ride away. We decided to pack up the boys and go spend a few hours. The reason the water gets so warm there and nowhere else is because on the back side of Jetty Island its a shallow mud flat that when the tide goes out the mud gets to bake in the sun. when the tide starts to come back in the heated mud makes the shallow water warm. Its perfect!

Today was rough!

SKATE or DIE

Boys grow up fast! I didn't realize just how fast till I got Eli his first razor scooter. He was so excited and couldn't wait to get to the skate park to play with the big kids. I see skateboards in our future! I am so impressed with how well he does. Eli is pretty impressive with his skills and already taking jumps and hills.

Kai has some skills too!

In Arlington there is very cool place to go and see. Its the Kangaroo farm! I love taking the boys there and they always have such a great time. How often can a kid from Washington say that he has gotten to pet a roo!

Fun in the Sun

Yay, we got a warm day. Actually it was hot! It made it above 80. This year summer has been a bust so we take what we can get when we can get it. Today was such a day. I pulled out the sprinkler to do some double duty. Fun for boys, water for the veggies. I love how they aren't afraid to put their faces right in the sprinkler stream.

Day out with Thomas the Tank Engine

Whooo Whooo, all aboard for fun. Today we traveled to the island of Sodor and had the best of time meeting our really useful friend Thomas. Grandma had purchased tickets for Brian the boys and I to go on the Thomas train ride that comes through Seattle every year. It wasn't a long ride but it was so fun and the boys thought it was just the greatest that Thomas was real and he was really big! Its so fun to watch them grow and I love making these memories that will last forever as they will soon out grow so many of these childhood hero's for more grown up ones.

Tickets please

What a view!

Since we were there we also saw Snoqualmie falls.

Who is that I see?

A perfect ending to a perfect day.

Independance Day

In past years we have spent the forth floating on the water relaxing the day away. this year however the boat has been sold and we can no longer float away with ease. We did however still spend some time getting wet. It was a beautiful day in the Pacific Northwest, a rarity this summer, and we took a bike ride down to the beach for a picnic and to play in the tide pools. The water was warm and the sand was dirty, or is it just that boys attract dirt? Either way it was the way it should be and we had a great time.

Afterwards we headed to Auntie Sandra's boat for dinner and some fun on the docks. unfortunately we all were tuckered out from a day in the sun and decided to call it a night early and were all asleep by nine. In all fairness the forth was on a Monday and Brian and I had to work in the morning.

oh and as usual every celebration around here requires treats!

Battle in the bathroom

Some things are inevitable. kids are going to keep growing, we are all going to get old, and your going to run out of toothpaste.

In our house I am proud to admit that I have a stockpile of toothpaste. Probably a enough to last us a year or so. All obtained for free due in part to great sales and coupons.

So it makes me wonder why that when the toothpaste gets to the end of the tube Brian can't seem to ever get a new one and replace it. He literally keeps trying to get more and more out of the flat empty one in the cabinet. It makes me wonder if he is unsure where we keep the backup paste and is waiting for me to do, or if its more of a man thing to never get the new one, this seems to happen with soap too.

Usually I get fed up with the whole process and grab a new tube but this time I thought I would make it a test to see if he actually knew where the new one were or if he is just being overly frugal and really trying to get the last bit out of the tube. So it became a standoff, a epic battle in the bathroom.

I won!

day at the beach

despite the gloomy gray weather we ventured to the beach to "fish" and throw rocks. they boys really love to go the beach and toss rocks into the water. It's always a contest to see who can throw theirs the furthest. Of course Eli likes this game since he always wins, unless daddy gets involved! They also brought their poles and Eli practiced casting. I think we are going to have a awesome fisherman in the family someday. I think I better start researching fish frying recipes.

Love this boy!

PARTY, PARTY, PARTY!

okay so it wasn't like a scene from some wild teenage movie, hey these are good kids, but it was a great time. Beret and Zach had their graduation party at the house last Friday and invited friends from both high schools and the NJROTC. Everyone had a great time and the hot tub got a good workout being overflowed with teenagers!

And a party around here wouldnt be complete with homebaked treats! I had so much fun with these, thanks guys for letting me contribute!

The spread! thats Jello popcorn in the jars, yum, yum!

I made this awesome cake with thanks to Icing Imagesfor printing out the edible picture.

This beuatiful surprised face is because the grad also turned 18 the day of the party and I made her a special birthday cake
